Ezio Costume WIP 02 by rabid-llama Ezio Costume WIP 02 by rabid-llama
I know the image is small and crappy, but it was taken with my cell phone. Better pictures to come later, i promise.

This is just the pattern i made out of muslin, for the outfit Ezio has by the end of the game. It's going to be all black eventually, which will happen soon now that I have my pattern finalized for the most part.

I still have to work on the hood, and do sleeve caps for the tunic. I have an undershirt, but that was a lot of white, and you couldn't see anything XD

Don't mind my makeshift dress form and the box it's sitting on. It was better than taking a picture of it flat on the floor or flat on a hanger. And we had a beanbag and strips of fabric laying around XD

Remember, this is all still a work in progress, and there may be some errors and this that still need work. It happens. More to come soon!

Costume pattern and sewing is all mine
Ezio belongs to Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed 2

I have no idea how much fabric it took in the end. I bought it all little by little over the course of a few months.

And it's finished. THere is a complete version of the costume.

stupid question here- but did you have an actual pattern to follow for each article of clothing or...?

I created my own pattern. I sat in front of the video game for a few hours one day sketching it all out, and created a pattern from there.

ah, okay. yeah, i have only played the second one for about an hour, and kind of want to cosplay him for this years halloween (we don't have cos-cons out here) and just got done sketching out what bitsof armor i can see off him. was kinda hoping tho that there were rough measurements somewhere XD
that's still really good for studying the game though, that'd drive me up the wall.
oh, i saw that altair had a bunch of daggers and whatnot hidden here and there, does Ezio have any that are really visible that i should think about or are they mostly hidden?

All measurements I made I took after myself hahaha. lots of looking at the image, and then going "where would that fall on me?"

Ezio doesn't really have any hidden daggers like Altair did. But by the end of the game, he does get some throwing knives he wears on his belt.

yeh, showed my grandmother (the sewing expert) this thing and she looked at me as if i was nuts... told me to buy it instead. XD but looks fun to make too so...

cool, so, a bucketload of daggers are just an option? oh, did you have to buy the bracer/dagger things or did you also make those?

I'm making everything on him over the course of the next few months. Including daggers, throwing knives, and all the other little details.

It's a very large investment of time and money, but I'm enjoying it thus far.

Yay! looks like you're starting to roll on this :)

couple questions- how are you planning to tackle the armor plates? Laid out basic leather and messaglias over here, but i'm trying to decide if i'll be using fiberglass or battle sintra.

muslin? that like, ubercheap fabric? youre' the second person i've seen laying out their stuff with the stuff

Yep, muslin. that awesome ubercheap fabric. I can get a whole bolt of it (25 yards)for like, 30 bucks. It's awesome. I use it because it is easy to draw on with pencil, and it moves and falls naturally, unlike newspaper or poster board. And there is no risk in tearing it.

As for the armor... I'm still trying to figure that one out. I've been playing with a few things, trying to find the cheap way that still looks awesome. It will probably be something along the lines as what i used for the bracer last year. I can't afford real leather :(

But as soon as I get something finalized, I'll let you know! I'm probably going to be working on the leather Armor of Altair, instead of the missaglias armor--that's too complex for me :XD:

Ohhhh,, so about a buck a yard then :) think walmart has a bunch of buck a yard fabrics, so a decent one i can draw on should do, though i'll be sure to look for muslin while at Joann's (with 50% off coupon in hand! )

Yeah, leather is so not the cheapest route to go, and I'm not faulting anybody who chooses to go with pleather instead XD, you did a fantastic job with it (i went that route out of curiosity and to explore mediums that i'd otherwise not try, with a common endgoal) and have some snazzy digs to roam around at conventions in XD)

the armor of Altair was leather? I thought it was like, metal plates mounted on leather.. i like the black outfit variant that the Altair armor comes with, but the chestplate reminds me of Dr. zoidberg naked, so i'm going with the ol' Mess (wanting the challenge of making those plates)

getting Mess DONE in time for like, Otakon is another story, cuz of all the work to still do on the base gear and other stuff (commissions, 2d art etc)

haha i understand. For some reason, I'm ending up being the seamstress for our whole little group. I have to get Ezio done, so I can start on other things...

I'm not entirely sure what the armor is--I haven't really looked deeply into it, aside from getting the base sketch. Working 30-40 hours a week really cuts into the costuming time hahaha. But I have a day off today, and i'm working on that stupid hood. The thing is driving me crazy...

But I would definitely check out the muslin for making patterns. Especially with Joann's coupons :XD:

cripes, that ood is the most evil. thing. ever. I'm semi hapy with mine right now.. ote not all happy.. glad i figured it out, not happy that the shape is still off and i eed to pull stitching out of 4 of the panels and readjust them to sit right :p.

SLowly makig heads n tails of the l. bracer, though i made the innermost layer of it on Monday to trick myself into thinking i'm making lots o' progress :p

so how's your hood faring so far?

I'm still working on the base pattern for getting the hood in the proper shape. It's only two pieces at the moment, but once i get this pattern down out of my muslin, I want to make another one out of the muslin that looks halfway decent, so I can take pictures of it :lick:

I haven't even started on the bracers yet. I am so behind :sigh: But once I get this base pattern, all the faux leather/metalwork is next on the list of things. And those stupid complex hidden blades...

How's it going for you?

Tisn't moving along very fast.. don't have a regular "job", but the prop commish and artists alley prep things have been taking up most of my time... convention seasons right around the corner, and though I had enough time to make decent progress during the "off season" con season is coming up, and its gonna slow soon.. Got wip photos in my gallery. i'm guessing 25% done at BEST though :\ (base gear, no upgrades)

Yeah, i'm dreading those blades too, especially since i never got around to perfecting the first one. got a lot of kinks worked out, but never bought the whole thing together into a completed accurate hidden blade. got the two stage slide mech (not gravity feed! yay! ) moving perfectly though thank god

did get into a work frenzy last night and did the layout of the trim and more layout of the outer layer of the l.bracer , but trying to decide if i'll embroider, weave, or stencil the stuff on.... I'm thinking of stenciling the trim on, then going over it with embroidery or weaving once i figure out how and get the time (which'll prolly never happen :( )

prolly'll be a major AC1&2 hybrid come Ohayocon at the end of the month.. oh well

hybrid is better than nothing, though! Sounds awesome to me!

I keep looking at this costume and thinking about everything left to do, and I go "what the hell was I thinking?" :XD:

I really don't even know where to start with the hidden blade. I'm still trying to figure that one out...

I'm going to try to have a better picture of it all up by the end of the night, since I stole my friend's digital camera :XD: And more detail shots, hopefully. <3

And now thanks to you, I keep seeing a person out of the corner of my eye, and think it's Ezio coming to stab me. It's not far enough in the corner!
